iSelect Titans winger Anthony Don has been rewarded for his consistent performances since coming into the club’s NRL squad last season by signing a new two-year contract.
Don, from Grafton on the NSW northern rivers region, did not make his NRL debut – at age 25 - until round 6 last season after he had been working as a PE teacher. But he has been a reliable performer on the flank in 21 first grade appearances since (11 tries) and has improved consistently with experience during his period as a full-time player.
“I’m really happy to know I have two more seasons with the Titans who gave me the opportunity to play in the NRL at a relatively late age; I love living on the Gold Coast and enjoy being part of the great squad of players and blokes,” said Don.
“I feel I have developed and learned a lot being part of the full-time squad in the past year and a bit and I believe we have the team to get us to the finals, with depth right across the park. I want to continue to play my role well with every opportunity I get.”
Coach John Cartwright said Don’s all-round game has developed well in the past 12 months and he is a popular and valued member of the squad.
“In a position where we have a fair bit of depth and thus competition for spots in the team, Anthony has been a consistent performer who is competent under the high ball, in defence and can sniff a try and that’s what you want from a winger in the NRL of today,” said Cartwright.
“And he’s a professional in how he conducts himself on and off the field.”
The news comes hot on the heels of hooker Matt Srama recently agreeing to another two years at the club.
