The story behind our '22 Indigenous jersey
This piece symbolises the culmination of 15 years of the Gold Coast Titans, reflecting on the past and looking to the future.
It is a celebration of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander imprint at the club with an acknowledgment to the 34 Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander players, hailing from 16 different tribal groups, over the past 15 years.
The painting pays tribute to the 5 Indigenous captains.
The Titans community connection is at the centre of the painting to highlight the club’s important role in partnering with Kalwun and the community for better health and wellbeing outcomes.
15 Years: Discover the story behind the design
Looking back and looking forward - the Campbell father / son relationship is depicted to acknowledge the start of the Titans and give hope to the future.
There is also a recognition of the establishment of a NRLW team in 2021.
The artwork has been shaped to represent a football stadium with the fans and communities represented in the yellow surrounding designs.
The turtle is a nod to our Torres Strait Islander players, the stingray is about our Gold Coast origins and the dolphin is a spiritual connection for many of our coastal Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples of the Gold Coast.
Gold Coast Titans proudly acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we are situated, the Kombumerri families of the Yugambeh Language Region. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging, and recognise their continuing connections to the lands, waters and their extended communities throughout South East Queensland.
