After enduring four ankle surgeries in as many seasons, rising forward Ben Ridge says he’s on his way back to full fitness and is itching to take part in the club’s pre-season trial matches.

Since suffering a horrific fracture in his lower left leg while captaining the Titans’ Under-20s side in 2009, Ridge has had to undergo several ankle operations to rectify the injury in recent seasons.

But after having what he hopes is the last of these corrective surgeries prior to Christmas, Ridge is raring to go as he attempts to build on the 49 NRL appearances he has already notched on his resume.

With the first of the club’s pre-season trial matches against the New Zealand Warriors just 11 days away, Ridge is hopeful of getting his hands on the football sooner rather than later.

Last season, the 24-year-old hit the ground running and earned a spot in the Titans’ starting pack for the opening five matches of the year before an unrelated pectoral injury saw him spend 10 weeks on the sidelines.
