iSelect Titans under-20s halfback and Holden Cup team of the year member Kane Elgey admits that coach Ben Woolf's decision to take him out of his comfort zone and make him co-captain was the catalyst for a much improved performance in 2014.

Elgey, who has signed on for a season in the NRL squad, was an Australian Schoolboy representative in 2012. But he admits he struggled to live up to his potential in his first two seasons in the NYC before starring in 2014.

He spoke candidly with compere Mark Braybrook at the awards night.
