AN unusual aspect of the Titans' season which is topical on the eve of the grand final is that our boys beat both grand finalists – Souths by 14-10 in round 17 and the Bulldogs by 19-18 in round 26.

Incredibly those victories were two of our only three in the last 16 rounds as injuries set in (the other was against the Knights in round 19).

And the Titans beat five of the eight finalists – Souths, Canterbury, North Queensland, Melbourne and Brisbane, plus went down narrowly to three others: Manly 15-12, Sydney Roosters 26-20 and Melbourne 24-20. In fact we defeated more top eight sides than those who missed the eight (5 v 4).

How did we rank in games against the finalists? Equal seventh behind Manly, Melbourne and North Queensland (7 wins) and Parramatta, Souths, Sydney Roosters (6 each), and equal with the Bulldogs.
