We talk to forward Ryan Simpkins, who quickly established himself in the Titans side in early 2015 before injury intervened.

The popular local product and former Palm Beach Currumbin student has been somewhat a forgotten figure in the public eye at least, but has been working hard behind the scenes to put himself back into NRL team contention.

He gives an insight into his long road back to recovery through the pre-season, his setback with a broken jaw and his affinity with Kane Elgey who is recovering from an ACL injury like Ryan did last year

"I think there is more depth in every position this year," he said about his fight to earn a spot.

"Through the ACL, it was tough sitting our last year. I just tried to put it out of my head and train hard. But with my jaw, the way I try to look at it is at least it gave me knee n extra three or four weeks healing time. It's been a good 12 months now since I had the operation and every week it is getting stronger."
