Aquis Gold Coast Titans new recruit Kevin Proctor has this week arrived at training and is ready to rip in, ahead of what will be a gruelling 2017 season.
Proctor signed a four-year deal with the club back in November and due to his Four-Nations commitments with New Zealand, only arrived this week and although a late-starter, the Tugun junior is looking to impress from the outset.
“It’s been a tough start and yesterday I definitely knew I was back at training,” Proctor said. “With the heat and all as well, it all adds to it.”
After coming from a successful outfit down in Melbourne, the 27-year-old is excited about being at the Titans, especially after the year the club had in 2016.
“They went well. Especially with the conditions they trained in and the young squad that played, they did a good job.
“It’s an exciting time and I’m looking forward to the whole experience. It’s good up here, all my family are here as well which means a lot.”
Questioned on whether he feels as though the pressure of now being classed as a marquee player would be of concern, Proctor didn’t see that as being an issue.
“I’ve never had that before, Smithy (Cameron Smith, Bill (Billy Slater) and Coops (Cooper Cronk) took care of that down at the Storm but I don’t really see myself as that. I just want to do my best for the team and do a good job for the boys”
