The Aquis Gold Coast Titans have wrapped up preparations this morning at Parkwood ahead of the local derby against the Broncos at Cbus Super Stadium tomorrow evening.
Much of the talk this week has centred around halfback Ash Taylor, not only around his contract but also his fitness, after it was reported early in the week that he failed to complete training.
“It was more precautionary,” Coach Neil Henry said. “He’s had a leg problem but he completed the defensive work the other day and then we just rotated the other guys through in attack.
“He’ll train today and should be right to go.”
The local derby has again ignited the contract discussion in relation to Taylor and Henry wants the Toowoomba junior to focus on tomorrow’s match.
“I think players in key positions are always under pressure but the more immediate thing for Ash is to have a strong game against his old club tomorrow.
“There has obviously been speculation around it (the contract) this week but no one can table anything formally with him until November, so that is all happening in the media.”
Another player in doubt for the clash is back rower Kevin Proctor. The kiwi international missed the match last week and although being named earlier in the week, is racing the clock to be fit for the match.
“We’ll have to make a decision on him but I’d have to say he’s in some doubt. Both him and Koni (Hurrell) have been a constant in the side, especially on the right and we missed the pair of them last week.”
