It’s the game he’s been waiting for and it’s on Sunday afternoon at 3.10pm that Ash Taylor will run out on to Toowoomba Sports Ground, look around and the memories will come flooding back.
Taylor grew up in St George, before moving to Toowoomba for high school and during that time and representing Toowoomba Brothers, got to run out on to the hallowed turf.
“I played a few games there growing up,” Taylor said. “All our Grand Finals were there so to be able to pull on an NRL jersey there this Sunday is pretty exciting.”
The halfback missed last week’s loss to the Warriors due to a hamstring concern but he’s certainly ready to go this week and would run out there, even if it was with one leg.
“It feels good (the hamstring). It pulled up sore after the Raiders but I’m back to full confidence and have had a full week of training so that’s a plus.
“It was a massive to call to pull me out last week and I was a bit disappointed actually to not get a chance to play but I’m back to 100% this week.
“No matter how bad it is I’d be playing. This one is very special, to be able to play in front of family and friends is great and I know everyone is excited about the day.”
