Week six of pre-season training is in the bag and the players certainly felt every bit of it.
The week started with some fun for all the family with the inaugural Christmas Carols and Members Christmas Party being held at Parkwood Village. Prop forward Jarrod Wallace got right into the festivities, making sure Santa got to the event save and sound to deliver all the gifts.
On Monday it was back to business with a long conditioning session, with the players working off all the treats they had at the Christmas Party.
Tuesday saw the group go through their paces with Coach Garth Brennan and his assistants controlling the session. The group are working hard, training under fatigue and preparing themselves mentally for every potential scenario that could occur in a match.
The midweek session had the entire squad working on tackle technique. A short and sharp session where the players worked hard on first contact and ruck defence. All this before a group of players visited the Gold Coast University Hospital to spread some Christmas cheer with Ronald McDonald House.
Thursday and Friday saw the conditioning element lift a gear with a number of players commenting on how tough each of the sessions were.
On top of the above, throw in four gym sessions and the full squad went home stiff and sore from a tough week but all felt good, knowing they had made a strong contribution to their preparations for season 2019.
