Local junior Jesse Arthars will become Titan #147 this Thursday night when the Gold Coast tackle the Cronulla Sharks in the opening match of Magic Round at Suncorp Stadium.

Arthars was born in New Zealand and moved to the Gold Coast as a 12-year-old, where he played for the Runaway Bay Seagulls. The 20-year-old has been named to make his club debut from the interchange bench, as part of a number of changes to the Titans team beaten by the Cowboys last Friday night.

Titans captain and five-eighth Tyrone Roberts is the major omission. Roberts failed his return-to-play protocol after being concussed against the Cowboys, and AJ Brimson will replace the skipper in the No.6 jersey.

Experienced forward leader and New Zealand international Kevin Proctor will captain the Titans in Roberts’ absence against the Sharks.

Dale Copley makes a timely return from his quadriceps/hip-flexor problem, and has been named on the wing, replacing Phillip Sami who will miss 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury.

The Titans are looking to turn Suncorp Stadium into their “home away from home” on Thursday night with more than 1300 fans making the trip up the M1 in a fleet of 26 chartered supporter buses.

The strong show of support from Titans members and fans will be boosted by Brisbane-based rugby league fans jumping on board the Titans bandwagon to cheer the first of the Queensland-based clubs to play in Magic Round – against Paul Gallen’s Sharks – in what is expected to be a big crowd to kick-off the weekend.
