There is more than one thing on Justin Holbrook’s Christmas wish list when it comes to areas where the Titans need to improve for next season.
It may seem an obvious statement when talking about the team that finished with the unwanted gift of the NRL’s wooden spoon in 2019.
And unlike that awful cardigan that Grandma got you, there is no taking that one back for a refund.
Instead, the Titans are fully focused on being better, not bitter in 2020.
It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Torture at Titans Training
While 2019 can’t be undone, Holbrook is taking a holistic approach to the Titans’ pre-season training schedule, ensuring the playing group improve across all areas and be ready to show what they are truly capable of next season.
“The way I coach, we have to get better at everything,” Holbrook said.
“It is not ‘fitness-only’ based. We had the ball in our hands straight away.
“We have to get better at all parts of the game – skill, obviously tackling, everything. Obviously conditioning is a part of that.”
Sweat Session to Finish the Week
The Super League premiership coach said the response from the playing group had been fantastic since the first drill on Day 1 of pre-season, with the squad fully buying-in to the new message being preached by Holbrook and his assistant coaches.
“Really good – as they should,” Holbrook said. “We are lucky enough with the two Jimmies – Jimmy Dymock and Jimmy Lenihan – bring in different things to the group.
“They are very good coaches, and we are lucky enough to have Michael Gordon on board too which is an important role to work with the young outside backs that we have.
“All the staff – I am really happy with everything.
“The playing group is training as hard as they can, and that is all we ask.”
