The cavalry is arriving for the Gold Coast Titans ahead of their closed-door clash with Parramatta at Cbus Super Stadium on Sunday, with injured stars Moeaki Fotuaika, Shannon Boyd and AJ Brimson all named on an extended interchange bench to take on the Eels.
Coach Justin Holbrook has chosen a largely unchanged line-up for the Titans’ first home game of the season, with the return of Brian Kelly to the centres and Tyrone Peachey moving to the interchange bench the only changes to the starting team from last weekend’s game in Canberra.
A promising 6-all second half against the Raiders and the potential return of three big guns in Fotuaika, Boyd and Brimson will give the Titans plenty of impetus as they look to open their account for 2020 in the unique setting of a locked-out Cbus Super Stadium.
Fotuaika, last year’s Paul Broughton Medal winner as the Titans Player of the Year, will be a huge inclusion for his first game of the year after a long off-season spent repairing the damage to his wrist and knee suffered during his heroic 2019 campaign.
Boyd played in the Titans’ first trial match against the Burleigh Bears, but has been eased into the season proper as scar tissue from off-season shoulder surgery continues to settle.
Brimson meanwhile is itching to get back on the park after a disrupted start to the year caused by stress fractures in his back that were aggravated while playing in the NRL Nines in Perth.
Jaimin Jolliffe, who impressed for the Titans in his NRL debut last week against the Raiders, and Sam Stone will provide additional cover on the bench alongside Nathan Peats and Jai Whitbread.
A reminder to Titans Members, fans and supporters that this game at Cbus Super Stadium will be locked-out to spectators, in line with the Australian Government’s directions on crowds in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The match will be broadcast live on Fox League, and streamed through Kayo and the NRL app.
