Metre Eaters: Titans back 5 continue to run and run

The Gold Titans back five have started 2021 in running form with all running in excess of 100 metres again on Saturday night.

The only exception was Anthony Don who went off injured at the 63rd minute mark but still managed to run for 93 metres before he went off the field.

With more ball in play and added fatigue in 2021, due to changes in the rules, the added work from outside backs to take hit-ups and relieve their forwards has become just as important as scoring tries.

The Titans back 5 have been led by their smallest man in Corey Thompson who is averaging a massive 184 run metres per game.

The diminutive winger belies the size advantage of opposition wingers and has consistently been in the Titans top three players through the first four rounds of the season.

Thompson also leads the Titans try scoring ranks with 4 after crossing again in the Titans loss to the Raiders.

In scoring on the weekend, Thompson picked up his third See Civil 'Play of the Week' in the first four rounds of the competition, highlighting the impact he is having every game.

He isn't on his own though with AJ Brimson (133m), Phil Sami (123m) and Patrick Herbert (111m) all helping shoulder the load.
