Justin Holbrook has said many times that he's his "favourite player", but AJ Brimson has shared some love in return for his Titans coach.
Speaking with ABC Grandstand Rugby League following the Club's 42 points to 16 win against the Newcastle Knights, Brimson says Holbrook has given him the confidence to take his game to another level.
"Ever since he has come in he has instilled confidence in me and the team," Brimson said.
"He told me pretty early that he wanted me to be the fullback and I definitely play better with that sort of security and that confidence he shows in me.
"He's very approachable and always keen to have a laugh with the boys, so I think he has got everyone playing their best footy."
The fullback says it was another strong display from the Titans forward pack that helped lead to the win against Newcastle, with Jarrod Wallace, David Fifita and Tyrone Peachey all picking up Dally M votes.
"Our whole forward pack in general, even our bench middles are coming on and doing a good job," Brimson said.
"It definitely makes it easier for us halves and outside backs playing on the front foot."
Despite the strong performance, Brimson says the Titans know there still needs to be further improvement if the Gold Coast is to mix it with top four sides in 2021.
"I think we've got to play for 80 minutes," he said.
"Even (in the win against Newcastle) in what was probably our best performance of the year but there was still times where we got in front and probably tried to protect a lead and sometimes when we're behind you've still got to play.
"Especially with these rule changes, you're never really out of the game so we need to put in consistent 80 minute performances."
The Titans travel to Mudgee this weekend to take on the Manly Sea Eagles, before returning to Cbus Super Stadium for a blockbuster against the South Sydney Rabbitohs on Friday 23rd April.
