Jaimin Jolliffe says the Titans are a long way from done in 2021 and he says the team has the confidence that finals are well within reach.
After a disappointing month, the Gold Coast side responded with a resounding 44 points to 6 win against the Canberra Raiders in Round 16.
Jolliffe says it was hard work on the training paddock, especially focussing on defence, that had the Titans ready for the Raiders and he's confident that the team is on the right track.
"We have been putting in the work but I think as a team we weren't really connected, especially in our defence we had people making reckless decisions," Jolliffe said.
"That was the real focus this week, being connected and doing things together.
"We had a great week of training leading into the game and we were confident that we could turn it around.
"We knew that we needed this win and it was good to put into action what we planned."
Jolliffe says that performance gives him the confidence that the Titans can string a run of wins together.
"I think, and the whole team does, that we can back it up," he said.
"We have to win a lot of games but we are backing ourselves.
"We are all confident that we can do it.
"We are not dropping our standards, we had one good win but we're not resting on that and we are going to work hard.
"We have the bye round but we are taking this opportunity to rip in at training and keep building and hopefully when we get to next Friday against Parramatta we put in another good performance and keep building towards the end of the season."
Having played every game in season 2021, Jolliffe's strong form was rewarded with a two-year contract extension that will see him remain on the Gold Coast until the end of the 2024 season.
"I'm really proud and I'm really excited for this club," Jolliffe said.
"It gives me a lot of confidence that they see me as part of their long term plan.
"It gives me confidence on the field, I don't have to worry about other things, I can just go out there and rip in and do my best and just focus on footy.
"There is no having to worry about where I'm going to be next, I am here for a long time so it gives me a good chance to rip in and put my best foot forward."
