In his first year on the Gold Coast, forward Sam McIntyre says he is pleased with his first year as a Titan.
After joining the club this season, McIntyre played 10 games to his career tally (22 games) and is expecting bigger things next season.
“As a club, we had a decent year. We were a little bit disappointed but overall, I think it was a good building year.
“We have pretty high expectations here and we didn’t finish the year where we wanted to finish.
“Next year we are going to do bigger and better things for sure.”
The 24-year-old had a strong finish to the regular season, which included a 57 minute performance in the 44-0 win over the New Zealand Warriors.
“Obviously the last round, was probably my highlight.
“We needed to win by 12 points and we ended up having our best win in Titans history.
“The boys performed on that day and the crowd was unbelievable at Cbus, we we’re pumped to get that win and make the finals for the first time in a while”
McIntyre was impressed by two key figures in the Titans 2021 campaign, especially ex-Tigers teammate, Corey Thompson.
“Tino was really good all year, obviously winning our Player of the Year award being consistent all year.
“I thought Corey Thompson was unreal as well, playing on the wing, obviously you hear all the stuff about him being a bit smaller than everyone else but he doesn’t play like it.
“He’s just fast and electric and really helped our sets get started all year. I was really happy with how he played.”
McIntyre says he's full of confidence with the young Titans squad and is excited for the season ahead.
“We’re just going to be better (next year). We have had a year to gel, and we have pretty much got the same side going into next year so we’re only going to be better.
“We’re all young and we are just going to build and be way better next year … that’s what I’m excited for.”
“We’re expecting to not just make the eight next year, we want to be in there, hopefully top four, so that’s our plan and we will take it from there.”
