Liu to lead by example in Titans pack

Isaac Liu knows that the expectation is that he will take a leadership role at the Gold Coast Titans - and that sits very comfortably with the 30-year-old forward.

One of the most experienced players in the Titans squad, Liu returns home to the Coast in 2022 having played nine seasons and 203 NRL games, including winning a premiership, at the Roosters.

Asked if he minds taking on a mentoring role with the young Titans squad, Liu is quick to speak of his enthusiasm for the job.

"Yeah definitely," he says about guiding the younger players.

Isaac Liu Interview

"I can see similar traits here with those young boys (to what he saw during the Roosters premiership years)," Liu said.

"If I can help them improve their game and outside of footy as well (that's the goal)."

While it will be 21-year-old Tino Fa'asuamaleaui who will take on the captaincy for season 2022, Liu says he will have plenty of support from the experienced heads around the team.

"He (Fa'asuamaleaui) is a strong leader and he talks when times get tough which is definitely a big part for a leader and he definitely leads by his actions.

"He is young but he is building confidence as we go and he has got myself and other leaders around him to support him and help him grow as a leader."

While the Titans pack features a host of representative players (Fa'asuamaleaui, Moeaki Fotuaika and David Fifita), Liu's will be a key cog in helping the exciting young forward crop reach their potential.

For his part, Liu says he's already slotted into life as a Titan and is ready to bring success to his new club.

"I'm definitely pumped to start with some new success here and to win a premiership here.

"I'm getting along well (with the boys) and training really well and it is starting to feel like home."
