Today is a history-making day for the Gold Coast Titans and no one could be more proud than Erin Clark.
With the club's netball franchise hosting its first ever home game at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium, the crafty No. 9 can't wait to get down and support the girls as they run out.
That's because his mum and New Zealand netball champion Temepara Bailey spearheads the new and exciting element of the club, and those who saw a recent video feature on the pair would know how much family means to Clark and having the former Silver Fern here with him in Australia.
"It was shown on the video the club released last week how much it means to me to have my mum here," Clark said.
"She's done really well. They've won a couple of games already this year, and to play at home... I'll definitely try and get a few of the boys down to support, just to bring that club culture.
"I'm just so proud."
The power of Mum: Erin and Temepara's Titanic bond
Having played 89 games for New Zealand from 1996-2011, Bailey is an out-and-out champion of the sport and has enjoyed taking the reins of the Titans' newest team.
"It's been interesting. I've kind of come in not knowing what the competition has been like. We've got a couple of girls that have experience in that competition and a lot of young ones coming through as well," Bailey said.
"I think everyone is pulling their weight out on court and I think that goes down to their passion, their attitude, and they want to be a Titan and represent the Titans in this netball uniform.
"We have challenged the best, however we have work to do."
She also can't wait to be part of the club's first opportunity to play in front of their home fans.
"It's our first home game and it's so nice to say it's our home game. It kind of gives me a tingle sometimes when I say it," Bailey said.
"The girls are really excited. To come home, in front of our community, family and friends is going to be amazing."
The Titans' Sapphire Series team will play at 2pm and the Ruby Series team will play at 4pm on Sunday, May 29 at Carrara Indoor Sports Stadium. Tickets are $10 per adult and children under 14 are free - purchase here.
