Future Titans in action ahead of Rabbitohs clash

The future of the Gold Coast Titans will run out at Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday as a curtain-raiser to the NRL clash against South Sydney.

Getting a chance to impress on the big stage, the club's under 16 development academy program will face off against the Northern Rivers' under 17 team in what is expected to be a mouth-watering clash to warm the crowd for the big NRL fixture to follow at 3pm.

With both teams facing off in the previous two years - and both games resulting in a draw at full-time - there will be plenty to play for in the hope of coming out on the top and being the outright winner for the first time in the history of the bout between the pair.

It’ll be an exciting day for the Harrison family, with brothers Zane and Isaac to play – albeit against each other for the first time in their rugby league careers.

Zane was the captain of the premiership-winning Northern Rivers Titans team that claimed the Andrew Johns Cup earlier in the year and is a proud member of the Future Titans program, whereas brother Isaac is a talented forward and will be ready to help lead his side from the front at lock.

Other notable players in action include the sons of former Titans forward Anthony Laffranchi (Oscar) and Melbourne Storm flyer Marcus Bai (Cooper).

Gold Coast Titans elite player development manager Jamie McCormack is excited to see both teams in action on Saturday.

It’s a great opportunity for these players to experience playing on Cbus Super Stadium and wearing Titans colours,” McCormack said.

“The clash will be a great showcase of the potential coming through our system.”

Gates open at 12.30pm with kick-off at 12.45pm, ahead of the Titans v Rabbitohs clash at 3pm.
