Gold Coast Titans youngster Tom Weaver made his Hostplus Cup debut for the Tweed Seagulls at the weekend, achieving a season goal the 19-year-old had set for 2022.
Whilst it wasn't the dream start he was hoping for with his Titans affiliate going down to Redcliffe 30-4, it was still a commendable performance by the up-and-coming playmaker who was extremely proud to have made his Cup debut at Moreton Daily Stadium.
He and Sam Lisone were the two Gold Coast representatives to pull on a Seagulls jersey for the Round 14 clash, with the prop forward playing 36 minutes and punching out 83 metres in nine runs, as well as making 22 tackles.
It was a different story for the Burleigh Bears, who bounced back from last week's shock loss to register a dominant 52-12 win over the Ipswich Jets, which included another season double to Alofiana Khan-Pereira as well as four-pointers to Jacob Alick and Tony Francis.
The Bears will now prepare for a big clash against Townsville, who are fresh from a 72-0 whitewash against Souths Logan; meanwhile, Tweed will travel to the Sunshine Coast.
