The last few weeks have been like old times for Tanah Boyd, back in the No. 7 jersey and running amok with David Fifita by his side.
It was a winning combination for Keebra Park back in 2017 when the duo played a huge part in winning the NRL Schoolboy Cup and the Gold Coast playmaker is hoping to reunite that special bond when the pair were one of the most lethal rugby league combinations.
"I just feel comfortable [in the halves]," Boyd said.
"I've been able to just build combinations with my edge. I've played a lot with Dave and I'm building with Phil (Sami) and Jojo (Fifita) now."
"[Especially with Dave], I just feel like I can help him and I feel like he listens to me a bit. I know his game and he knows mine, so that's always going to help that combination.
"We've still got to build on that and he's getting better and better each week. He's getting more confident and he's excited to play and I just love having him outside me. It makes my job pretty easy and he's always into me and I'm always into him, so it kind of just works.
"The more he can run hard like he was on the weekend, the better we're going to be, so I just need to keep helping him and he'll keep helping me."

The familiar combination isn't the only motivator to give the young half confidence, getting full backing from Justin Holbrook to continue growing his craft as the chief linchpin.
"It's massive. I think that's a big thing for me, Justo backing me," Boyd said.
"I feel like all the staff are backing me and the boys are backing me and I feel like that's transferring onto the field and I can just go out and do my job.
"That's all I've been focusing on is my job and doing that well so, that's what I need to keep doing and hopefully we can just keep getting the results."
Whilst Boyd's preferred position is in the halves, the Gold Coast junior has also spent time at hooker in his time at the Titans, which has been quite a valuable thing in his growth as a player and has helped him stay more composed on the field.
"I think the experience and learning my craft and playing regular first grade [has helped me stay composed]," Boyd said.
"But playing in different positions as well, which has let me understand the middle and what they have to go through which allows me to kind of help in that way.
"It all comes with games and experience and it's only going to get better because the more I play, the better I feel and the more confident I get."
With his versatility, it's an opportune time to be up against Ben Hunt in this weekend's upcoming clash against the Dragons, given his ability to both play at hooker and in the halves, just like Boyd.
"I'm always excited to play against those calibre of players and Benny Hunt is a great fella and a great player and I'm excited to play against him," he said.
"It's a massive test for us and hopefully we can just keep backing it up and going with the same mindset we had last week and hopefully we can get the result and have weeks like this."
