Nine Titans to represent Australia at World Cup

Nine of the Gold Coast's best physically disabled athletes will wear the green and gold and represent their nation at the upcoming Rugby League World Cup in the United Kingdom.

Following the final selection match when the Titans defeated Sydney earlier this year at Cbus Super Stadium, a 20-player Australian squad has been formed to travel abroad to face off against England, Wales and New Zealand.

Titans players Michael Baker, Dean Clark, Karel Dekker, Steve Hendry, Dylan Jobson, Richard Muff, Kane Ridgeley, Harry Rodgers and Hudson Wicks will be among those in the touring party to compete for the coveted silverware from October 23-30 in Warrington.

Recently, Gold Coast Titans chair Dennis Watt broke the news to Wicks about his selection and spoke of the immense honour of the green and gold jersey.

"By playing for Australia, you’ll be representing yourself, your family, your community and the club, and wearing the coveted green and gold is the dream for so many young people," he said.

The Australian squad and national PDRL program has been led by the New South Wales Physical Disability Rugby League, supported by the Gold Coast Titans, and could not have been possible without the tremendous support of both organisations working in unison to achieve the goal of sending 20 inspiring athletes to the UK.

Fundraising events and health and wellbeing programs will be conducted by the squad in the coming weeks before they enter camp on October 16, ahead of flying to England on October 19.
