Kieran Foran won't be the only new recruit joining the Titans from the Northern Beaches with the key playmaker ready to link up with his former strength and conditioning chief.
Cameron Ferguson has also made the move to join the Gold Coast as the new head of physical performance - finishing up with Manly after the 2022 pre-season following a seven-year stint with the Sea Eagles.
Having spent the last few months in the background preparing for a big 2023 season ahead, the 10+ year professional is thrilled to have joined the club and begin working closely with the NRL squad.
"I'm super excited and I can't wait to rip in," Ferguson told titans.com.au.
"My role will oversee the whole physical program, which includes all the strength and conditioning work, and ensuring that the injured guys through rehab and their return to play have a smooth transition.
"I'll also work closely with the coaching staff, ensuring that the plans for the training on the field link up with what the goals are physically, and making sure the players are ready come Round 1."
A typical day for Ferguson will see him continually in and amongst the playing group to ensure they are adapting to the various programs and are getting to their peak physical fitness for the upcoming season ahead.
"My day will start with preparation in the morning, seeing all the athletes check in and seeing how they're responding to the training. From there, we'll implement certain plans for athletes throughout the day," he explained.
"I'll be on the field, taking the warm up and implementing all the conditioning drills, and then I'll be in the gym and have a big say on what goes on day-to-day there. I'll also be involved in a bit of off-feet conditioning the guys do as well.
"So basically, I'll be on the ground with all the training sessions."
Whilst the club may be new for the club's latest staff recruit, the Gold Coast isn't with the new head of physical performance previously studying here and working with the Gold Coast Suns from 2011-2015.
"I started working up here professionally after I went to uni here on the Gold Coast and I was lucky enough to work with the Gold Coast Suns," Ferguson said.
"It's funny how it all works... to come back here (to the Coast again), but I'm super excited to be working on the Gold Coast as it's such a great lifestyle."
And with the familiarity of the landscape also comes the familiarity of some players, including the Titans' star recruit Foran; and whilst Ferguson isn't expected to see his former teammate arrive officially until a few weeks after the completion of the Rugby League World Cup, he is very much excited to begin his Gold Coast NRL journey together with the 262-game linchpin.
"Kieran is a really good character and the player he is really speaks for itself," he said.
"I'm very excited to be able to link up with him again and start our journey together up here on the Gold Coast."
