Known by most for his work on the football field, Titans star Toby Sexton has become known for something very different to the patients and staff at the Gold Coast Hospital.
Since 2020, Sexton has been a consistent volunteer for the Gold Coast Hospital, helping to bring smiles to those who need them most.
Initially a partnership between the Gold Coast Titans and the GC Hospital Foundation, Toby has continued visiting the hospital in his personal time each week.
Even during this year's grueling pre-season, Sexton has been volunteering at the Hospital on his day off.
Speaking about the impact of the 21 year old's visits, Fundraising Manager Vicki James could not be more complimentary of his efforts.
"Toby has been awesome," she said earlier this week.
"He has interacted with the sick kids in the children’s ward, he brought in a football and played a little game of footy out in the courtyard.
"He helped deliver toys to our Children’s Emergency Department and to the babies in NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit), and also to the Children’s Critical Care Unit where he gave a bear to one of the patients.
"He has been amazing, coming along to our Christmas Tree lighting and the team have loved having him as part of the team on a Thursday morning."
For the young halfback, the visits are a way he can give back to the community that has supported him and allowed him to play Rugby League for the Gold Coast.
“We are very lucky to do what we do, and it’s great that we are able to come out here and do things like this," Toby said.
From impromptu footy games to photos and a simple conversation, Sexton continues to give back to the community he represents and as a club, we couldn't be prouder of his efforts.
