A fantastic return to form in Jojo Fifita's first game back from injury has helped the Tweed Seagulls deliver Wynnum Manly's first loss of the season, winning 44-26 in an entertaining Sunday afternoon affair.
The highly-anticipated 'flockbuster' between the two Seagulls combatants saw plenty of four-pointers, including a double to the Titans flyer who suited up for his first game back since injuring his MCL in Round 2 against the Dragons.
The 20-year-old also finished a solid 80-minute stint with three line breaks, 135 running metres and two tackle breaks on the right wing, partnering with fellow Gold Coast teammate Treymain Spry who also came up with two tackle breaks, two line break assists and a try assist.
Klese Haas was also impressive in his outing, topping the run metres count with 151 - including 43 of those post-contact - alongside a four-pointer of his own in the contest.
The win places the Seagulls in the top eight winning three of their first six contests, next travelling north to Townsville to meet the Blackhawks on Sunday afternoon.
At Sunshine Coast on Saturday, it was a tough day out for the Burleigh Bears, going down 38-10 to the Falcons.
Keano Kini once again topped the charts with 167 running metres, six tackle breaks, a line break and a try assist; meanwhile, Titans new recruit Thomas Mikaele played his first game for his affiliate, getting through 53 minutes in a solid start to his time on the Coast.
The Bears will now host Papua New Guinea in the traditional Kokoda Cup Anzac clash on Saturday afternoon at Pizzey Park.
