Last week at Titans HQ the club celebrated four aspiring future leaders who have been selected to represent the Gold Coast Titans at the NRL Indigenous Youth Leadership Summit in Sydney next week.

Year 11 students Sarah, Airlee, Troy and Jake, who completed the Titans Deadly Futures program last year and are now participants of the NRL School to Work program, were selected based on their leadership qualities within their school and community.

NRL School to Work representatives Mel Lightburn and Shelley Keegan and Titans CEO Steve Mitchell welcomed participants, parents and teachers to acknowledge and celebrate Sarah, Airlee, Troy and Jake on being selected and to offer advice and encouragement before heading down to watch the Titans training session where Indigenous players Brian Kelly, Alofiana Khan-Pereira and David Fifita congratulated and presented participants with their club hoodies.

The four representatives will be among the 68 students representing all 17 NRL clubs participating in the leadership and cultural camp.

The experience, knowledge and leadership qualities they will develop throughout the week will see them take their learnings back to their school and community to continue their leadership journey.

The School to Work initiative is an education an employment program supported by the Australian Government and the Gold Coast Titans.

The NRL utilises the positive profile of the game of Rugby League to support young Indigenous Australians with work experience, mentoring and leadership opportunities to ensure they successfully complete school and transition into further education or meaningful employment.
