NRLW young guns give back to junior club

As women's rugby league continues to grow on the Gold Coast, so does the need for extra coaches and volunteers to help manage teams.

This has included the expansion of the Karina Brown Challenge - now including Under 8, 10, 12 and 13 teams participating in the all-female competition on the Coast.

A proud club benefiting from the continued rapid growth is the Nerang Roosters - who were in need of extra staff to help facilitate the exciting number of females who have chosen to play the greatest game of all.

To answer the calling, three Titans NRLW young guns stepped up to the plate to help their junior club... with Rilee Jorgensen, Dannii Perese and Hailee-Jay Ormond-Maunsell taking on various roles at Nerang.

Ensuring they give back to the Roosters after the club helped pave their way to the Titans, the trio spent the time they could week-after-week building up the skills of the young girls.

For many of the new female players, it was their first experience in rugby league and learning the many facets of the game - including tackling. Jorgensen, Perese and Ormond-Maunsell ensured they made it a positive one.

The three NRLW stars were also managing jobs and their own league training but still found time to volunteer many hours and give back to their junior club... an achievement very much worth highlighting during Women in League Round.

A number of participating clubs involved in the Karina Brown Challenge will be honoured in Sunday's Round 22 clash at Cbus Super Stadium, forming a guard of honour to lead out the Titans in the second half of their clash against the Cowboys.
