Key three: Foz fires with career-first hatty in Titans' double dub at Cbus

A Kieran Foran hat-trick has helped the Titans thank their loyal Legion in the best fashion they could, delivering a 34-30 victory in the final game of 2023 at Cbus Super Stadium.

The second win for the Gold Coast in as many games on Sunday afternoon with the NRLW team notching up a 16-4 victory in the earlier clash against the Tigers, the hat-trick to the classy playmaker helped setup the triumph, but the Bulldogs hit back with two late tries to make the contest close in the final minutes.

Here are the key talking points from the match:

Double dub for the loyal Legion

The Titans have delivered two wins from their two games on Sunday afternoon to give the ultimate thank you to the Gold Coast's loyal Legion in Member Round at Cbus Super Stadium.

Beginning with a 16-4 win over the Tigers in the NRLW, the NRL side backed up the efforts with a 34-24 win over the Bulldogs to notch up their ninth win of the season and finish 2023 on a high, overcoming the fast-finishing Canterbury to secure the two competition points.

City jersey turns Foz into Superman

The Gold Coast’s city jersey is Kieran’s Foran kryptonite - anytime the experienced playmaker dons it, he turns into a try-scoring machine.

Notching up yet another first half double – much like he did in Magic Round when the Titans last wore their stripe to pay homage to their community - the 33-year-old brought up his first career hat-trick by crashing over in the 53rd minute.

Foran gets a hat-trick

Starting things off in the 12th minute when he found the line through a spectacular show-and-go to get the points-scoring started, he then backed it up with another special dummy in the 20th minute to have two tries in the opening quarter of the game - having brought up his career total to 56 four-pointers in his 282nd appearance.

But the champion wasn't done in his final game of the season, getting the triple mid-way through the second stanza to finish the 80 minutes with three tries tries, three line breaks and seven tackle breaks, as well as making 135 metres with 11 runs.

Foxx steals the show in losing side

Foran wasn't the only star to find the line on three occasions in Sunday's contest with Bulldogs speedster Josh Addo-Carr also scoring a hat-trick, although it was to no avail with the Titans holding on to win the contest.

The three-try haul was the Origin and International star's eighth triple of his career and second against the Titans after reaching the same feat at the corresponding fixture in Round 19, 2022.

The 28-year-old finished the match with the three tries, 191 run metres, two line breaks and nine tackle breaks.
