Three Titans School to Work students secured awards at the inaugural NRL School to Work Awards in Sydney last week.

Lakeeta McGrath, Hayley Lyons and Crystal Walker were awarded for their outstanding achievement in and out of school.

McGrath and Lyons are former Titans Deadly Futures students, transitioning into the School to Work program following their graduation from the program.

NRL School to Work Student of the Year, Hayley Lyons says she feels honoured to be awarded for her achievements.

“It was really special being named the NRL School to Work Student of the Year,” Lyons said.

“I feel really honoured to receive the award. My experience in the School to Work program has been amazing, so I feel really honoured.

“Going to Sydney and meeting other participants of the program at the awards ceremony was great. Seeing what other students are doing was incredibly inspiring,” she said.

The NRL School to Work program utilises the positive profile of the game of Rugby League to support young Indigenous Australians with work experience, mentoring and leadership opportunities.
