Family-first Titans help launch 2024 Deadly Choices health check shirts

Culturally embedded selflessness and commitment to family are accelerating Titans enforcer David Fifita’s physical and emotional recovery from off-season pectoral surgery.

The 24-year-old took time out on Tuesday to assist in unveiling the club’s new suite of Deadly Choices health check shirts, acknowledging the power of preventative health in ensuring his ability to optimise overall wellbeing.

“Knowing that my Mum, my Nan, and my Dad are alright; my family and my partner; it just keeps me relaxed knowing they’re okay,” Fifita said.

“This, without doubt, is my Deadly Choice.

“Knowing my family’s okay, that gives me the best push to train and play the best that I can be.

“Preparation is key for everything, to be happy and get the results that I need.

“For community and families across the Gold Coast and Queensland, it’s important to look after your own wellbeing, so the easiest way is to book in for a health check and you’ll also score one of these deadly Titans shirts.”

Such an endorsement is well appreciated by the Gold Coast’s Kalwun Health Service which operates three community-controlled health service clinics out of Bilinga, Miami and Coomera, allowing access to culturally appropriate and holistic healthcare for community.

The decade-long partnership between Kalwun Health Service, Deadly Choices and the Gold Coast Titans has played a key role in driving demand for preventative health care, contributing to an incredible 4000 percent increase in 715 Health Checks across South-East Queensland and leading to the expansion of Deadly Choices right across Queensland.  

All Queensland NRL clubs are united behind the Deadly Choices preventative health initiative through valued funding by the Queensland Government through Health and Wellbeing Queensland.

Through the Deadly Choices Healthy Lifestyle Program, a real difference is being made in closing the health and life expectancy gap between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
