Family first: Titans forward's desire to acknowledge with name change

Titans forward Jacob Alick-Wiencke has shared the importance and influence of his father with the addition of Wiencke to his surname.

The Titans forward who shares both Torres Strait and Papua New Guinean in his family formally made the change this week, wanting to acknowledge everything his dad has done for him across his career and life to date.

"I've added Wiencke to the end of my last name which is my old man's surname," Alick-Wiencke explained.

"I've always just had my mum's and my parents have been split since I was young.

"I thought it would be a bit of a respect thing to add his last name onto mine. He's done a lot for me over my career and my life and I just wanted to show him my respect for him.

"He'd doing anything for me so just to acknowledge him in my surname is the least I can do."

Alick-Wiencke has featured for the Tweed Seagulls in all three of their matches this season as he aims to return to the NRL line-up after four appearances in 2023.
