Round 5 team: Two to debut as HSS, Pahulu headline new faces for Queensland derby
Rising star Josiah Pahulu has been named to make his NRL debut for the Titans, joining new recruit Harley Smith-Shields as fresh faces for this Sunday's clash against the Cowboys.
The duo are part of three changes to the 17 that faced the Dolphins with coach Des Hasler also recalling Jojo Fifita to replace the injured Phil Sami on the wing.
The trip to Townsville will be Pahulu's maiden NRL appearance after joining the Gold Coast full-time in 2023, fresh from captaining Ipswich State High School to a historic Queensland and National Schoolboy Cup title.
The derby in North Queensland will also be a special occasion for Brian Kelly, who notches up his 150th NRL appearance alongside Beau Fermor, who plays game 50.
Kieran Foran will again lead the team out as skipper in place of the injured Tino Fa'asuamaleaui.
Kick-off is at 4.05pm on Sunday at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, Townsville.
