Despite missing out on Maroons selection for the Origin opener in Sydney, Beau Fermor is throwing his support around the squad knowing his time will come from focusing his energy into his performances in Titans colours.
"I think they picked a really good team," he said.
"Was I disappointed [I wasn't selected]? Of course I was.
"Everyone wants to be a part of those camps and part of those teams.
"It wasn’t meant to be for me this game, but that doesn’t mean that I won’t get there in the future.
"My focus is here and playing well here and doing my job for the Titans, and hopefully getting a few more wins over the next few weeks.
"If I am doing that and doing my job here, the rest will take care of itself."
After missing the entire 2023 season due to an ACL injury, the confidence of the 57-gamer is growing with each appearance as one of the few Titans to play in every game this season.
Fermor has them fooled
"I probably started the year a bit slow to my standards which is probably to be expected after coming back after not playing footy for a whole year," the 25-year-old said.
"Over the last four-to-five weeks I’ve really started to play some good footy, and it’s given me a springboard to hopefully have a really good back end of the year."
After a few weeks up in Brisbane, the playing group are excited to be back at home this weekend in their clash against the Rabbitohs, and are looking to back-up their recent on field two-point performances.
Match: Titans v Rabbitohs
Round 14 -
home Team
Titans
15th Position
away Team
Rabbitohs
16th Position
Venue: Cbus Super Stadium, Gold Coast
"I am really looking forward to this Saturday playing at home,” Fermor said.
"We’ve got a good run of games before our next bye around Origin III, so to get a few wins in those three games to really bump ourselves up the ladder is what we need to do.
"Over the last six or seven weeks I think our biggest loss margin has been four points, so it would be nice to turn those close losses into wins.
"I think we’re starting to learn that as a squad, and it’s just little lapses in concentration or little periods in the game where we’ve let two or three tries in in quick succession that are letting ourselves down.
"We had a few weeks there where we let teams get out to a 10-to-12-point start, so if we can knuckle down those areas, I think it’ll go a long way to helping us in those areas."
