Desperation defence top of the agenda again for Titans in new Coffs challenge

Fresh from the bye, the Titans are eager to back up their dominant performance against the Warriors with another win as they come head-to-head with the Sharks at Coffs Harbour.

Up against one of the form sides of the competition who are looking to bounce back from back-to-back losses - most recently a one-point golden-point heartbreaker - fuelling the visitors to break a nine-game losing streak against Cronulla will be all the positives from their dominant 66-6 showing against the Warriors.

Leading the list of proud moments is the side's discipline and determination shown in defence that helped keeping the Warriors to only one lone try, but Titans forward Chris Randall knows he and the playing group will need to turn up even stronger against the Sharks to ensure they come away with the two points.

"There were plenty of sets there on our line where we could have leaked a couple (of tries)," he said.

"But I thought we were scrambling well and fighting hard for one another to keep their points to six.

"We were disappointed for them to even get the try late in the game, but it was a good defensive effort for us, and we were happy with it."

Round 16 highlights: Titans v Warriors

Pouring their focus into their own game preparation and completion rate consistency, the clash against the black, white and blue will be a tough challenge the 64-gamer is looking forward to.

"They’re a very good side," Randall said.

"They run hard and challenge the ruck, so we’ll have to be on from the get-go, as the Sharks start hard and fast.

"We’ll just be looking to worry about our own game and look to do what we did against the Warriors and go set for set with them with high completions.

"It’ll be a tough game as well, so we’ll have to be up for it."

With Jayden Campbell to miss the Coffs Harbour clash, the Gold Coast do welcome the return of AJ Brimson following eight weeks on the sideline after suffering a groin injury against the Cowboys in Round 10.

"It’s a big loss with Jayden, but it’s really good to have Brimmo back after a little bit of time on the sideline, and we’ve missed him,” Randall said.

"He’s such a good player and we’re excited to have him back."

Although a tough record in the Mid North Coast with the Titans yet to record a win in their previous two games in Big Banana country, the former Newcastle Knight knows the energy regional New South Wales supporters can bring as he lines up for his first Coffs Harbour match.

"I haven’t played at Coffs before," Randall said.

"I know Newcastle is a few hours south are a very strong rugby league town, and I am guessing the Coffs Harbour community is similar, so I am expecting a good crowd turnout.

"Hopefully we can put on a good show for them."
