Affiliate wrap: HSS return helps Jets down Falcons in gritty win

Harley Smith-Shields' made a triumphant return from a pec injury in Ipswich's gritty 12-10 win against Sunshine Coast on Sunday.

Having been sidelined since Round 10 against the Cowboys, the 24-year-old came back via the Hostplus Cup in a strong display, making 175 running metres and 16 tackles to help the Jets to their second win of the season.

Ken Maumalo was also strong on the wing, cracking over 200 metres - 81 of those post-contact; whilst Jaylan De Groot also impressed in the No. 1 jersey with five tackle breaks.

At Tweed, it was a heartbreaking Saturday night for the Seagulls who narrowly went down to the Cutters 20-14 in a tit-for-tat battle.

Tom Weaver played a part in both of their tries with two try assists; whilst fellow Titan Iszac Fa'asuamaleaui got through a mountain of defence with 31 tackles at 92 percent efficiency.

The Seagulls next host Souths Logan in a curtain-raiser to the Gold Coast's Round 19 clash against Parramatta at Cbus Super Stadium.

The Jets next host the Clydesdales on Sunday afternoon at North Ipswich Reserve.
