'No point in ending it yet': Foran eager to play on in 2025

Veteran playmaker Kieran Foran has showed no signs of wanting to call it quits at the end of 2024, hinting his desire to play on beyond this current season after another scintillating month of footy with the Titans.

Moving to the Gold Coast at the start of 2023 to help provide leadership in the halves, the 33-year-old is eager to continue his time at Parkwood beyond his current contract having flourished as the club’s chief linchpin in what is now his 16th season of NRL.

"I’m thinking I’ll go around again if the club wants me to," he said after Friday’s gritty 20-16 win over the Sharks.

"I’m feeling healthy enough and enjoying my footy enough, so I don’t see a point in putting an end to it just yet.

"I’m really loving getting out there and competing with the guys each week and providing the club want me to roll around again, I’ll certainly do it."

Press conference: Round 18 v Sharks

Now only six games away from the magic milestone number of 300, Foran has featured in 12 of the Titans’ 15 games this season, setting up 11 tries and scoring two four-pointers of his own in what has been a masterful display linking back up with coach Des Hasler after debuting under the two-time premiership-winning mentor in 2009.

Whilst he says his recovery from games is a little longer these days, he has no concerns over his fitness with the continued work he has done with Gold Coast high performance staff.

"It takes me about three or four games to get over games these days," Foran joked.

"I start coming good at the backend of the week, but the club manages me well through the week and I feel really healthy and ready to come into games each week.

"It’s just about backing that up and continuing to do it.

"If I can keep on top of my body physically, there’s no reason I can’t not keep playing.”

Titans CEO Steve Mitchell spoke in May of his wish to keep Foran a Titan in 2025, and his career continuation has also been endorsed by the club’s playing group who love the experienced half’s energy, tenacity and leadership.

"Foz is the man," young gun Keano Kini said.

"He’s always tough and leads us around the park. He’s always the number one talker out there.

"We follow off the back of his energy and we try and help him out where we can.

"If he wants to go around again, I’m excited to play under him."
