Kieran Foran has refused to rule out 2025 will be his last in the NRL, with the Titans the only club on his mind when the decision came to extend his illustrious career into an impressive 17th season.
After the Gold Coast's important 24-16 win over the Eels on Saturday, the Titans sheds were buzzing with excitement as the side continued to consolidate their late season charge - including from the veteran playmaker who happened to also celebrate his 34th birthday with the two competition points.
In his 295th career appearance, Foran exhibited another masterclass performance, proving his decision to re-sign for 2025 season earlier that week was an expert move.
As he prepares to visit his old stomping ground where he began his first grade journey in 2009 when he faces the Sea Eagles on Sunday, the Titans No. 7 believes he has found his long-term home on the Gold Coast.
"I knew this was the only place I wanted to continue to keep playing footy at," Foran said after the Eels victory.
"I am not going to put an end point on it. If I’m playing good enough footy and my body is feeling good enough, I’ll keep playing till it eventually breaks on me and I can’t keep up.
"I won’t put a finish time on it I’ll just keep holding myself to that standard and upwards from here onwards.
"It [future seasons] will be at the Titans; I am not interested in going anywhere else.
"I am fully invested into what we are building here, and this is where it’s going to be for me.
"This is where I want success and I will stop at nothing to get it here.
I believe we can do it here and this is where it’s at."
Despite being described as a 'fossil' by his teammates, Foran isn't letting his veteran status hold him back, instead lifting in all areas of his gameplay – including his defence which has seen his strength on his own goal line be pivotal in multiple try-saving tackles.
"At the end of the day, you have to be able to make those tackles in this game," he said.
"But physically, I feel good enough and I’m able to keep up with this current crop of athletes.
"They’re a pretty explosive bunch and they’re pushing me to keep my body stronger and get fitter each week.
"I am enjoying my footy, I’m loving it and being a leader and I am enjoying helping the boys grow and develop their footy for hopefully many more years to come."
With three wins on the trot behind them, the cohesion amongst the side is evident in their defensive consistency and confidence in attack.
"It’s nice to build some cohesion on the back-to-back wins now," Foran said.
"It’s important as a club that we start becoming consistent.
"I think for a long time we’ve talked about potential, and we’ve been able to play some exciting footy... but at the end of the day, if you want to be there at the right end of the season you need to be playing consistent footy.
"That’s our main focus and goal at the moment.
"We’re going to go full board this year and see what we can make of it, we haven’t given up on playing finals.
"Next year isn’t even something we’ve thought about yet, we’re full immersed in what we can achieve this year."
The Gold Coast will travel to 4 Pines Park on Sunday to face Manly in another must-win game to keep their finals hopes alive and kicking.
