A perfect Sunday, as all four Titans teams claim wins

It has been a historic day in Gold Coast Titans history, with all four of the clubs sides tasting victory.

In the NRL the Titans defeated the Dolphins for the first time in their short history, 21-14.

While the NRLW side got the chocolates in their season opener, downing the St George Illawarra Dragons 18-10 to start their quest to go one better than their runner-up position in 2023.

What many rugby league fans may not know, though, is that the club's netball sides that compete in the state level Sapphire and Ruby Series competitions were both on show today in grand final qualifiers.

In a tight affair the Ruby side came back from a nine-point deficit to record a memorable victory with a shot after the siren clinching the win, while the in the Sapphires it was another tight affair with the Titans prevailing 52-49.

Both sides will now play in their respective grand finals next weekend at the Nissan Arena.

Here's what the coaches had to say:

DES HASLER (Titans NRL)

"I think it was pretty easy to assess.  We were way off the mark in the first half and we addressed that at halftime and we came back out and played a better 40 minutes.

"We had an arm wrestle and got the points ... I'm proud of the way they responded but we've got to use that going forward against a pretty good side next week."

KARYN MURPHY (Titans NRLW)

"I'm happy with that, it was round one obviously and looking at a good solid start I thought the girls were really good today.

"We've still got some work to do ... but the combinations are there.

"Our defence is everything for us, we work really hard on that and build our game around that ... I thought the girls did a pretty good job."

Temepara Bailey (Titans Netball)

"Having both our Sapphire and Ruby teams qualify for the Grand Final is a huge result for our club.

"Hayley Matthew hit a two point shot at fulltime in a real clutch moment to win the game for our Ruby team and our Sapphire side really played well as a team right across the court.

"We're looking forward to the challenge ahead in the Grand Final next weekend."
