Grand Final bound for both Sapphire and Ruby sides

Both Titans Netball teams are headed to the Grand Final with some clutch performances securing the spots for both the Sapphire and Ruby teams.

When it comes to clutch, we have to start with Hayley Matthew.

In the Ruby Series semi final, the Titans trailed by as much as 10-goals to Cougars before a remarkable fightback that saw them with a chance to win after the siren.

With scores at 59 (Titans) - 60 (Cougars), Matthew had a super shot chance with a simple equation.  Make it and it's a one goal win, miss it and it was season over.

Under pressure, the Titans shooter hit the two pointer handing the Gold Coast side a 61-60 win.

In the Sapphire Series semi-final, it was again a tight match with the Titans defeating the Sunshine Coast Thunder 52 goals to 49.

In what was a tight first half, the Titans edged ahead in the third quarter, but Thunder continued to press and the match went down to the final minutes.

Titans Head Coach Temepara Bailey said both Sapphire and Ruby sides relied on full squad efforts rather than standout individual performances.

"What a great achievement for our club to have both teams into the Grand Final," Bailey said.

"In just our third season as a franchise, to have both teams make it is a wonderful reward for what we're trying to build at the Titans.

"These two teams now have a chance to create history, to become the first Titans to lift the Sapphire or Ruby Series trophy.

"I'm really proud of the effort right across the program, not just from our players but from our coaches and management.

"It really was a full team effort, but I do want to make mention of Hayley (Matthew).

"To hit that shot after the siren to lock in our grand final spot for our Ruby team was a massive moment.

"From a Sapphire Series perspective it is always a really good test against Thunder and we enjoy our contests against them as they play in the right spirit.

"We know that both Jets (Sapphire) and Tigers (Ruby) are tough opponents this weekend, but we're excited for the challenge."

The Ruby Series grand final gets underway at 4pm at Nissan Arena, with the Sapphire Series grand final to follow at 6pm.
