Titans teammates ready to create something special for Foz

Titans forward Isaac Liu is eager to create something special for teammate Kieran Foran's 300th NRL appearance against the Dragons on Sunday.

Having played with the veteran at both NRL and International level with the Kiwis, the experienced forward holds great respect for the 16-season campaigner and everything he has contributed to the game over his career, and more recently for the Gold Coast.

"It means everything... what Foz has done for the game and what he’s been through. He’s a warrior and a well-respected man on and off the field," Liu said.

"I have such high respect for him and he’s one of those teammates you can always count on, you look at him and say I’m going to do my bit for you.

“"t’s going to be a huge game for myself, the boys and the club and I hope we can go down there and bring something special for him and get the job done.

“Foz is a warrior... he deserves a lot.”

Part of a team filled with so many young X-factor athletes in the infancy of their careers, players like Foran have been pivotal in bringing so much more to the club than simply dominant on-field performances.

"He’s not just a leader but he’s such a good role model," Liu said.

"For the young boys to be a part of that special game and be motivated to get up for the game by what he’s been through and how he plays…you’ll make sure you give it everything for him."

With the milestone man not rushing to hang up the boots after recently inking a one-year extension to remain at the Titans in 2025, Liu knows how important it is for the club to continue to have the long-standing relationship between coach Des Hasler and Foran at the centre of the team.

"It’s huge and he’s obviously not finished yet," he said.

"It’s so important for the club with Des as well, with those two being together for a bit.

"It’s so important for us to have his experience and the way he plays here, it’s big for the club."

The upcoming clash in Wollongong follows a disappointing loss to the Sharks, with Foran's 300th appearance one of the many motivators fuelling the Titans to bounce straight back with only four games left in the regular season.

"It was definitely a disappointing result," Liu said.

"You could see that during the game there were times as a team that we just didn’t show up.

"But we’ve got an opportunity this week to go again and get it done."
