Six appeal: Campbell eager to make halves shift permanent

Jayden Campbell has declared his desire to be the long-term Titans five-eighth after making a knack of dominating in the No. 6 jersey since his switch.

Following in the footsteps of his old man Preston, who began his career as a fullback, before playing 146 games in the halves, the 24-year-old wants to replicate the same trajectory after his whirlwind nine games as one of Gold Coast's key linchpins.

Whilst his future in the halves hasn't completely been locked in given his versatility, Campbell has made it no secret he wants to remain a long-term playmaker next season.

"I'm not too sure [if I'll remain in the halves], but I'm really enjoying my time there at the moment and you never know what could happen," he said.

"I didn't get much of a pre-season [in 2024] due to my knee, but I'm hoping to have a full pre-season focusing on that position, which will allow me to work on my game there and develop it a bit more.

"I'd love to stay at six... but we'll just wait and see."

The leader's leader: Foran to join 300 club

Getting the chance to learn from one of the best in the game with 300-gamer Kieran Foran by his side, this weekend's clash against the Roosters will be a chance to officially honour the milestone man in front of a large home fan base.

Campbell is hoping the rugby league veteran's homecoming to celebrate such an achievement will be a big reason to help the Titans rise to the occasion against one of the title contenders.

"It's a massive achievement for Fozzie," he said.

"He's seen the highs and lows of footy. He's a real role model at our club and real inspiration to all of us.

"He's made it really easy [for me].

"He's the more dominant half which makes it a little bit easier for me to play football.

"We're back at home for our last home game of the year so we want to do our best to repay him."

The talented five-eighth is also eager to make the loyal Legion proud in Members' Round, with both NRL and NRLW teams excited to return home for the important weekend at Cbus.

"It's always really good to have our members and our fans there," Campbell said.

"In our last home game of the year, hopefully we can put in a good performance for them."
