Jaime Chapman and her Titans teammates will make history this weekend as they run out in the game's first Indigenous jersey that features the stories of both NRL and NRLW players in the one design.
Designed by Sylvia Khan - mother of NRL flyer Alofiana Khan-Pereira - the jersey tells the story of the journey many young Titans players take on their way to first grade, highlighting the careers of Chapman and Khan-Pereira.
With the NRLW currently not part of the dedicated Indigenous Round earlier in the year, the 22-year-old is proud to be a part of what is a positive step in the right direction for future seasons.
"It’s a history making moment in women’s sport to wear our Indigenous jersey this weekend, so it is really special, and especially to have my story on it... I am very proud to wear it," Chapman said.
"It’s got our totems and they’re leading the way for us and who we represent - our mob.
"It’s got my nan and my dad on it as well, so I am super proud to wear it to not only to acknowledge, but also to celebrate our culture as well.
"The women don’t have an Indigenous Round so hopefully we can change that, but this is definitely a step in the right direction.
"The Gold Coast Titans are always amazing in the community and they always push for the best, so for us to be able to do this is something really special."
After back-to-back losses away from home, the Titans are taking confidence from their dominant 26-6 win at Cbus Super Stadium against the Roosters on Sunday, but face another tough clash this Saturday.
In such a close battle on the competition ladder with six teams sitting equal second on points - including Gold Coast - the Titans' home game clash against the undefeated Sharks will be an important challenge to break away from the pack for the final three games.
"They’re at the top of the ladder and we know what to expect from them and what we need to work on to keep them out," Chapman said.
"I think we’re going to come back bigger and stronger (after those two losses), and we’ve focused on our defence so no one will get through us. It was really special to win the way we did last weekend.
"If we stick to our ways and what we believe in, we’ll get the win (again this weekend)."
