The Titans are proud to announce a partnership with Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League that will see Gold Coast participate in the upcoming State Cup on October 25-26.
A joint initiative among all four Queensland NRL clubs, the Titans will be represented alongside the Cowboys, Dolphins and Broncos who will also take part in the event, which will see players from across the state converge to the Sunshine Coast for the two-day event.
The first year of the competition being played in this format, Titans CEO Steve Mitchell is proud of the alignment between Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League and the four Queensland clubs, which further expands the Gold Coast’s inclusive programs.
"It’s an exciting time to join forces with our fellow Queensland counterparts and partner with Queensland Wheelchair Rugby League to help further expand our footprint in making the greatest game of all accessible for all," Mitchell said.
"We’ve had another record season with our ever-growing Leagueability program, now in its seventh season; plus we’re extremely excited to have launched Pathway to Play which helps grow inclusive rugby league at a community club level.
"We want to have every member of our community aspire to become a Titan and our new agreement with QWRL adds another opportunity to do this, joining our NRL, NRLW, Netball and Community programs."
QWRL chairperson Zachary Schumacher is thrilled to have four brand new wheelchair rugby league teams representing Queensland’s NRL clubs.
"This exciting partnership between QWRL and these iconic clubs marks the beginning of a new era in inclusive rugby league, and we couldn't be more proud to share this moment with you all," he said.
"The 2024 State Cup is just the start of a bright future, where the clubs and QWRL will continue to work closely together to grow and elevate the sport for everyone."
The featured sides will battle it out on Friday, October 25 and Saturday, October 26 at the University of Sunshine Coast’s Sport and Fitness Arena.
