Three train and triallists to keep an eye on

For many, a train and trial opportunity can be your pathway into or back into an NRL contract.

Jaimin Jolliffe joined the Titans on a train and trial deal back in 2019, going on to win his way into a contract after impressing on the training paddock and in trials.

Former Titan Erin Clark was another that used the opportunity to return to top-grade, adding 94 games to his NRL tally after previously playing the one for the Warriors years earlier.

This year, the focus will be on Brock Gray, Sean Mullany and Josh Patston who join Cooper Bai as fulltime train and triallists.

The quartet will spend the season in and around the NRL squad, under the watchful eye of the Titans coaching staff.

Brock Gray joins from South Sydney, having played 15 times in the New South Wales Cup for the Rabbitohs in 2024.

The back-rower is an experienced campaigner, having played 129 times at Cup level across the past nine seasons.

The 28-year-old will be looking to impress as he reports for pre-season duty at Parkwood in November.

Another pulling on the Titans colours will be Josh Patston.

Another backrower, Patston played for Burleigh Bears in the Hostplus Cup throughout 2024 and now has 52 Cup appearances under his belt.

Having previously spent a pre-season with the Melbourne Storm, the 26-year-old will be looking to quickly show what he can bring to the Titans squad.

After two seasons with the New Zealand Warriors in the NSW Cup, Sean Mullany has spent the past four years with the Mackay Cutters.

The former junior kiwis representative has been captaining the Cutters, playing 58 games of Hostplus Cup as both a hooker and lock.

After getting a taste of NRL pre-season action with the North Queensland Cowboys last season, the 25-year-old will again be looking to put up his hand to play in the trial fixtures for the Titans early next year.
