Titanic Stats: Four debutants grab chance in '24

As we continue our look at some of the key numbers from the 2024 season, today it is about numbers #190, #191, #192 and #193.

Those four numbers were handed our to our newest Titans, with four debutants making not only their club but also their NRL debuts in season 2024.

The first was Josiah Pahulu, who ran out in round five against the Cowboys.

A long and prosperous NRL career is expected for the 20-year-old, who went on to claim the Titans Rookie of the Year award after an impressive 19 games at the top grade.

With Regan Campbell-Gillard joining the club and Tino Fa'asuamaleaui returning, there will be extra competition for middle forward spots in 2025, but expect Pahulu to press for inclusion after an impressive rookie season.

After strong form in the Hostplus Cup, Tony Francis received his chance in a massive local derby clash against the Broncos.

Francis fines the line on debut

The winger crossed for his maiden try in his debut game, but injury ultimately cut short his first NRL experience.

Francis added a further 11 minutes to his NRL resume in round 23, as he came on as an interchange replacement against the Sharks.

Next was Jaylan De Groot, who graduated from the Future Titans pathway to the NRL in round 26 against the Knights.

De Groot scores on debut

With Keano Kini ruled out through injury, De Groot received his call up to make his top grade debut, rewarded for a strong 2024 season at Hostplus Cup level.

After being 18th man twice earlier in the season, De Groot grabbed his opportunity and didn't look out of place.  He'll be looking to press his case for more time in 2025.

The final debutant is Arama Hau.  A Future Titans alumni and former Australian Schoolboy, the edge forward got his chance in round 27 against the Panthers.

He played 22 minutes starting in the second row, capping off a strong season in which he excelled for the Ipswich Jets.

Hau managed 19 games for the Jets as he returned to Australia after a stint in England and is another that will be looking for a big pre-season to catapult himself into further NRL contention in 2025.
