Titans expand female Academy program to bolster NRLW pathway

The Titans are proud to have launched their inaugural Under 14 and 15 female academies to help continue growing women's rugby league in the Gold Coast and Northern Rivers communities.

Backed by NRLW major partner outsource Financial, 2025 marks the first time the club has introduced this age group into the female pathways program, which will help prepare talent-identified players to secure a place in the elite Under 17 and 19 Future Titans academies.

Featuring 35 players, they'll be guided by a team of top-tier coaches and staff from South East Queensland and Northern Rivers with the goal of developing skills and tactical awareness to elevate their performance at both club and school levels.

Not only will the initiative focus on the growth and development of core rugby league skills and fundamentals, but it will also aim to create a meaningful connection between both players and parents to the club.

Titans NRLW experienced forward, Queensland representative and Jillaroo star Shannon Mato will play a pivotal role in launching the exciting new program - working alongside the dedicated development and pathways coaching staff here at the club.

Over 30 players have progressed through the Titans' female pathway programs and earned spots in the NRLW side, with 14 of those part of Gold Coast's 2024 squad.

A true testament to the pathway in action is Sarina Masaga; who excelled in the Future Titans Under 19s, secured a spot in the NRLW development squad and then made her debut in Round 7.

Masaga's strong showings on field also earned herself a call up to represent Fetū Sāmoa in the recent Pacific Championships - where the young forward helped her national side take out the Pacific Bowl title and secure a spot in the 2026 Women's Rugby League World Cup.

The Under 14s and 15s Academy is structured to run over a three-month period, having commenced in late November and features five training sessions at the Titans' High Performance Centre.

The club extends its appreciation to outsource Financial for their proud and ongoing support for the success of women's rugby league on the Gold Coast, supporting all facets of the female program from Future Titans to NRLW.
