There's nothing better than seeing two front rowers go at it, and that's very much the case at Titans HQ at the moment.
But it's all for good reason - and something Gold Coast train-and-triallist Luke Burton is loving in his second season at Parkwood.
The 25-year-old has really leant on the experience of Reagan Campbell-Gillard during his pre-season stint, with the two props both boasting such competitive natures and desires to get better each training session.
This has created such a healthy rivalry on the training field between the pair; which in-turn has also brought them closer together at the end of each session as Burton picks the brain of the 221-game star.
"I'm learning so much from him and it's been really good having the chance to go up against him out on the field," he told titans.com.au.
"We go at each other heaps at training, so we've started to build a solid relationship off the field as well.
"I'm in Big Moe's (Fotuaika) team a lot for most trainings as well, so I'm always going to him for guidance also."
Now in the thick of his second pre-season on the Gold Coast after injury overshadowed his taste of NRL last year, the Tweed forward is embracing the intensity of his extended invitation from Des Hasler, eager to secure his place in the trial games again early next year.
"That first pre-season experience really prepared me going into this one, so I was able to prep myself better in the off-season," Burton said.
"I loved playing in the trial against the Dolphins at the start of this year, but I pulled my hamstring in the second week of the pre-season, so it was pretty intense making a comeback with only one full week of training before the trial.
"I'm just trying to work really hard and take everything in so I can hopefully secure a spot in the trials for the upcoming season."
Following a tough 2024 season with the Seagulls, Burton is eager to rebuild and make an impact in his fifth year with the club.
"We were riddled with injuries at Tweed this year and ended up having 19 debutants across the season, so we weren't able to build any continuity with players," he said.
"I'm really keen to start fresh going into the new season, play consistent footy and hopefully find success in 2025."
