Former Titan Clinton Toopi is preparing to lose his precious locks... but all for a good cause.
Cutting his iconic hairstyle on Thursday, December 19; the 156-game star is raising funds for Titans Leagueability coach and NRL Gold Coast employee Polly Thornton who is currently battling breast cancer.
Having been involved in the program for the past two years, Thornton never misses a Leagueability session, even when she is unwell from her treatment.
She has also continued her role with the NRL coordinating Munchkin League on the Gold Coast, where she works closely with Toopi who is also with the NRL delivering the State of Mind program.
The Titans old boy is hoping to raise $5000 to support Thornton's ongoing treatment and medication.
"Cancer is scary just thinking about... let alone knowing someone impacted by it or have been taken from us," Toopi said.
"It’s a daunting conversation that’s popped up in our office chats and I’ve had a little scare I've been through recently, but it's nothing in comparison to what Polly has had to endure.
"I feel how much it’s weighed on her, the impact it has on her emotionally and the trauma it causes.
"This makes me feel compelled to show a small ounce of support to a woman, mother, wife, friend, daughter, aunty and colleague I know is strong, upbeat and has a smile and energy that lifts our office.
"I'm cutting my precious locks to help Polly with her financial burden of chemo and medication that she has to take for the rest of her life."
