Titans young gun Zane Harrison has been acknowledged for his incredible 2024 season, one of six finalists in the running for Gold Coast Junior Athlete of the Year at the prestigious 56th Gold Coast Sports Awards.
Alongside gold medal-winning skateboarder Arisa Trew, junior tennis world number one Emerson Jones, Australian Under 17 basketballer Indy Cotton, Gold Coast Suns draftee Leo Lombard and Major League Baseball prospect Max Durrington as the fellow nominees; the 18-year-old achieved an incredible number of accolades last year to be considered for the top gong.
This included steering Tweed Seagulls to premiership glory in the Mal Meninga Cup, before taking Palm Beach Currumbin State High School to the top in both the Queensland and National Schoolboy deciders as the chief playmaker.
Harrison's on-field success also earned him several individual honours in 2024; including Mal Meninga Cup player of the year, Justin Hodges Medal and Peter Sterling Medal, and was also selected in the New South Wales Under 19 squad and Australian Schoolboys side.
The talented half has now just completed his first full NRL pre-season at the Titans after graduating from the club's pathways program and featured in Gold Coast's first trial against the Broncos last Sunday.
Titans general manager of football Anthony Laffranchi is proud to see Harrison recognised for all his achievements in 2024.
"It's an incredible honour for Zane to be recognised among the other talented young athletes who have also been nominated. It's a testament to all the hard work he has put into his growing rugby league career," Laffranchi said.
"He's extremely dedicated and motivated to continually improve, which has been the catalyst for all his success in 2024, especially with the Tweed Seagulls and Palm Beach Currumbin as well as his numerous representative honours.
"A fantastic role model on and off the field, he's been in our pathways program since he was 15 and I'm proud to see him transition to our full-time Titans NRL program with a bright future ahead.
"I wish him the best of luck with his nomination at the upcoming Gold Coast Sport Awards."
The winner of the Gold Coast Junior Athlete of the Year will be announced at the 56th Gold Coast Sports Awards on Saturday, March 1.
